A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his audience.

He said: "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who
wasn't my wife!"

The audience was in silence and shock.

The speaker added: "And that woman was my mother!"

Laughter and applause.

A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker tried

to crack this very effective joke at home. He was a bit foggy after a drink.

He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner,"The greatest

years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who was not my wife!"

The wife went; "Aaaaaggh!" with shock and rage.

Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the secondhalf of the

joke, the manager finally blurted out "...and I can't remember who she was!"

By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on a

hospital bed nursing burns from boiling water.

SAFE-DRIVING TIPS WHEN IT IS RAINING!

GOOD VISION IN A DOWNPOUR

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour.

We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily.

This method was told by a Police friend who had experienced and confirmed it.

It is useful...even driving at night.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED

of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad......

In the event you face such a situation, just put on your SUN GLASSES(any model will do), and miracle!

All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car.

You are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea..

Try it yourself and share it with your friends!???

Amazing, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.?

You can see where the rain bounces off the road. It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing cars. Or the "kickup" if you are following a car in the rain.

They ought to teach this little tip in driver's training.. It really does work.

This is a good warning. I wonder how many people knew about this.

Another good tip:

A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago. She was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively and her car suddenly began to hydro-plane (this is when you drive over an aqua-plane or "water-ponding" stretch of road: Rosnah's comment) and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence! When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened.

He told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON. She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain..

But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on, your car will begin to hydro-plane when the tires lose contact with the pavement, and your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred. The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor - NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

Send this on...it may save a life.

12 Steps To Make The Perfect Pitch For Photographers.

In order to make it as a photographer, you need to be able to communicate with your clients and sell your work. It doesn’t always matter if you are a great photographer, if you don’t know how to communicate with them. Improving your pitch can for many be the key to success. It’s an small investment, that can give a huge return.

If you find yourself in a situation where you regularly get contacted by prospective clients, how many of them do actually end up on your client list? If you think there is room for improvement in that area, read on.

Many photographers have bad pitches because they ramble on to much about themselves and forget all about the clients needs. By focusing more on your clients needs and less on yourself, you can win more clients.

Here are 12 easy steps on how to improve your pitch.

1. Know the client.
How can you make a great pitch if you don’t know the client? Do your research and find out how your services can suite the clients needs. What problems can you help them solve? What are they trying to sell? How do they present themselves to the public? Know these things and giving the perfect pitch will be way easier. Talk to others about the client, read their website, look up the key employees/owners on the web and look up their previous marketing, promotion and advertising material. What can you bring to the table?

2. Know your success stories.
It is easier to sell a success story, than a product or service. Have you ever had any previous clients give you a success story that was a result of your photographs? If not, you better go hunting for one. If your photos aren’t adding any value for the client, why would any buy your services?

3. Get to the point.
Don’t waste your clients time. Keep your pitch short and highly relevant. A few lines is enough. Make it easy to read, avoid the buzz words and keep it crystal clear. Tell them what you do, how you can move them closer to their goals and why your the right photographer to do it.

4. Photography isn’t the solution, you are.
Remember that many of the clients that contact you might be shopping around for other photographers as well. Don’t tell them why hiring a photographer is the solution, tell them why hiring YOU as a photographer is the solution.

5. Don’t waste anyone’s time.
Many clients prefer not to schedule meetings and phone calls when hiring a photographer. They don’t want to be sold to. Send them your pitch on email (read number #3 again), keep it short and make it easier for them to reply.

6. Let your website do the talking.
You have a website, right? Your website should include your most impressing pictures, information about your services and your contact information. Want to put yourself on step ahead of your competitors websites as well? Add your success stories. People love stories.

7. Be professional and enthusiastic.
We all love being casual and laid-back, but it might not always be a good idea when trying to win a new client. You want to be enthusiastic about working for them.

8. Don’t talk price, terms and details first.
If you do that, it will get in the way of your message. Sell them your stories first and make them want your services. That makes the perceived value of you much higher and it is easier for you to justify your prices.

9. Don’t brag – you still need clients.
Don’t give them the impression that you are so client that it wouldn’t make much of a difference whether they become a client or not. If that is the case, rather send them an email saying your not currently taking in new clients. No need to brag about how great you are, if it’s not highly relevant.

10. Always add an call-to-action.
Always give your clients something they can act on. If you meet them in person, give them a business card. If they give you one in return, tell them you will give them a call tomorrow. If you don’t, tell them to get in touch with you. When sending emails, give them something to act on, either it being an URL to your website or a promise that you will call them later.

11. Always show your portfolio.
Your potential clients are always going to want to see what you can do before hiring you. Make an great portfolio online, make it easy to use and have it tell your stories. Add the URL to everything, your business cards, your emails, your clothes, your car, on the building of your studio. Add it everywhere.

12. Always follow-up.
If you don’t hear back from them within a few days, send a polite follow-up mail asking if they have had a chance to look at your website. If you still don’t hear back from them within a week or so, you can consider sending another mail, but if they don’t respond fast after the third email they are either not interested in you or it’s not a client you would want to work with anyways (they use weeks to respond – obviously a photographer is not important to them at this stage).

To sum up, know your success stories, know your client and adopt your pitch to solve whatever problem the client has and help them reach their goal.

Emails is a great way to communicate, however there are still a lot of clients who prefer meeting face to face to see what you look like and to hear your voice. You can learn a lot by just looking at how they contact you. If they make the initial contact by sending you an email, it is very likely that email is they preferred method of communication at this stage. If they call you, don’t be afraid to suggest a face to face meeting.

Canon EFS 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM

Previously I owned the Sigma 10-20 f/4-5.6, it was a great lens. Used it mostly for my Car Photography. I sold it (regretted selling it). Went searching for a 2nd hand wide lens for a few months prefarably the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 or the new Sigma 10-20 f3.5. But couldnt find any. Lastly it was the Canon EFS 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM...and i never looked back. Its Fast and the pictures are beautiful. Now my lens are complete from wide to tele.

Not everyone shoots a wedding the same way. I prefer a more photojournalistic wedding photography approach mixed with the classic portraits. My primary lens recommendations reflect this. Zoom lenses allow a wedding photographer to quickly respond to the action taking place - without intruding on the event participants and with varied framing from shot to shot.

Traditional wedding photography may be done just as easily using a couple of prime lenses. Prime lenses can also serve well for backup purposes (never rely on a single lens, camera, flash or anything else for wedding photography).

Since the ambient lighting is generally not good at indoor weddings, fast lenses are usually prefered. While f/2.8 is typically the slowest (most narrow) wide aperture I recommend a wedding lens have, image stabilization makes the 24-105 L a good choice as well. The wedding ceremony itself (with mandatory flash-less photos) is generally composed of near-motionless people. Image stabilization will allow some extra depth of field (narrower aperture, slower shutter speeds) while shooting handheld at these times. Adding a flash will allow action-stopping f/4 shots at the often-even-darker reception venue.

The fast prime lenses listed above work very well - especially if you are working with multiple camera bodies. Their wide apertures allow lower ISO settings, faster action-stopping shutter speeds and/or more-diffusely-blurred backgrounds in a package that is often smaller/lighter than the closest zoom equivalent.

The only lense i regret selling is the Sigma 10-20mm, its a great lense especially during Car Photoshoots.

For now, i'm missing a wide-angle zoom lense..Tokina 11-16 f2.8? maybe. hope my budget permits.

But for now, i'm focusing my budget to a much different area. Saving up for Home Appliances and Furnitures. Insyallah soon we will get a Shell House, and the target date that we'll have an opening is after Raya, so theres still time to save up :)

Ok here's how i did it.
What u need:
1. A ride (The Subject)
2. Tripod
3. Remote Shutter (optional, but better to have)
4. At least 1 flashgun speedlight

Locations: prefarably a dark or very poor lit area. With no or minimal light in the background
(as you can see from my pics, the building at the side really spoiled my image)
lense: i prefer a wide angle or standard lenght lense.

1. Focus ur camera to the object (while on the Tripod)
2. Set ur camera settings to 'Bulb' (or if u don't have a remote shutter, set it to manual n lengthen(make it slower) the shutter speed to 10-30 secs , depending on how many rides u want to strobe at 1 time)
3. Aperture value around f/8-f/16 (totally depends on how strong u want to set ur flash output)
4. Lowest ISO possible i.e 100 or 200 (to reduce noise, higher if ur object is dark colored))

Now, u got ur camera all set up.

5. Set ur flash output to 1/4 or higher but dont use 1/1 output too much, it will drain ur battery faster n overheat

6. Press the shutter button. (using the remote)

The hard part (while the shutter is still open)
7. Now move closer to the ride and point the flashgun towards the ride. Manually trigger ur flash using the test button on the speedlight itself.

Note: try NOT to point the speedlight towards the camera, always shoot away from the camera or u will see the light from the flashgun on the image later on. Not a big deal, but will reduce ur post process time.

Flash every part of the ride..i.e front bonet, front bumper, side panels, the doors, the rims, the rear panels the roof...everything..after thats done,

8. Press the shutter button again on the remote to close the shutter...let ur camera process the image (it will take a few seconds on some camera).

And done!

And yes..ur image will probably be too dark or too bright or alot of 'missed spot'..its ok, its all part of trial and error.

My tips:
* dont choose a dark colored subject, the bright colored ones are the easiest to start with i.e white, bright yellow, sky blue..(if u're stuck with a dark colored object i.e black...increase ur ISO, n use f/6.3 or lower)
* its at night and dark, so bring along some battery powered flash lights or battery powered emergency lights so that u can see( and other ppl can see where u are)..
* beware of mosquitos

Be creative (before closing the shutter)
* have 2 cars drive past the subject with their dim lights switch On on opposite sides. ( from behind the camera towards the car or vice-versa )
* set up ur camera far away from the object or use a wide angle lens and have cars going ard the object with their dim lights switched on.
* Draw with lights...use those $1 LED lights and DRAW..(this time point the light towards the camera)
* make use of those colorful lights...
* after strobing the object, ask someone to pose beside it and strobe him/her..move to a different place and strobe again...keep doing it at different places to prevent overlapping.

Flash: 580exII - 1/4 output...manually firing the flash numerous times at the objects.

Settings: 6 secs, f/7.1 & ISO 400

Flash: 430exII x2 - 1/2 output & 580exII - 1/4 Output all triggered wirelessly.
